Strengthening upstream integration and advancing the journey toward fully integrated steel production, Suryadev Alloys & Power Private Limited (SAPPL) has awarded a contract for a 2.4 Mtpa greenfield pellet plant at its site in Tamil Nadu, India to Danieli NewFer and Danieli Corus India.

The investment marks another significant milestone in SAPPL’s long-term growth strategy. The company currently operates 600 tonnes per day of ironmaking capacity, a 40 MW captive power plant, and a 0.6 Mtpa steel plant at Gummidipoondi. The new pelletizing facility will strengthen upstream integration by securing a reliable supply of high-quality feedstock for its ironmaking operations.

Based on proven Danieli NewFer travelling grate technology, the plant will feature a 408 m² reaction area indurating machine and several advanced technologies. These include an innovative Heat Recovery System, delivering at least 15% lower specific thermal energy consumption, the capability to utilize lower calorific gases.

Indigenous supplies will be handled by Danieli Corus India Private Limited, while critical technological and foreign-sourced equipment will be supplied by Danieli NewFer GmbH, Germany. Technical advisory services for detailed engineering, fabrication, erection, and commissioning activities by the client are part of this contract.

The project is scheduled for completion within 16 months, with the entire pellet output serving as feedstock for SAPPL’s on-site ironmaking facilities. Danieli NewFer and Danieli Corus proud to support SAPPL in this strategic investment. The project will strengthen SAPPL’s competitiveness and create a solid foundation for future growth. We are confident that this new facility will make a lasting contribution to SAPPL’s success and its journey toward becoming a fully integrated steel producer.
