General Ledger Accountant (32–40 hrs)
As General Ledger Accountant you ensure accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. The role manages end–to–end general ledger activities and supports month–end and year–end closing.
Responsibilities
General Ledger Management
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts;
- Prepare journal entries for accruals, provisions, depreciation, inventory and intercompany transactions;
- Execute month–end and year–end closing activities in line with corporate deadlines;
- Support consolidation teams with accurate entity–level data and variance explanations;
- Manage intercompany reconciliations and ensure alignment with global finance teams;
- Support external and internal audits by preparing documentation and meeting audit inquiries;
- Assist with tax filings, VAT returns, and regulatory reporting in several countries;
- Maintain ERP master data integrity for accounts, cost centers, and project structures.
Payroll, Hours & Expense Administration
- Process and reconcile payroll data in coordination with HR and external payroll providers;
- Maintain accurate hour administration including, overtime and allowances;
- Validate and book employee expense claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and tax regulations;
- Reconcile payroll–related balance sheet accounts;
- Support audits and internal controls related to payroll, timekeeping, and expense processes.
What makes you successful?
Your knowledge and experience
- MBO+/Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent;
- 3–5 years of experience in general ledger accounting, preferably in industry, manufacturing or engineering;
- Experience in multinational environments with multi–currency accounting;
- Knowledge of Dutch GAAP;
- Proficiency with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus);
- Advanced Excel skills for reconciliations, analysis, and reporting.
Soft Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English;
- Ability to work under tight deadlines;
- Proactive approach to problem–solving and process optimization.
